The 41 in Camps Bay in conjunction with ShoutMC.com are pleased to bring you the Spring Jazz Series, featuring amazing jazz trios every Thursday evening from 19:30 – 21:30. The artists will perform an accessible blend of jazz Standards, South African jazz, Latin jazz and light pop to accompany the world-class menu, service and views at The 41.

6th Sept 2018 – Dan Shout Trio

The 41 Spring Jazz Series every Thursday in September kicks off with the Dan Shout Trio featuring Dan Shout on saxophone, Andrew Ford on keys and Steve de Sousa on double bass. The band will perform a mix of jazz Standards, South African jazz, original compositions and light pop. Entrance is free, the food and service is great and so are the views! There is no reason not to make this your Thursday night hang.

Dan Shout is a respected, sought-after saxophonist based in Cape Town, South Africa. He has performed in over 30 countries across five continents with the likes Johnny Clegg, Winston Mankunku, Maria Schneider, Mike Campbell Big Band, Darryl Andrews Tentet & The Blues Broers to name a few.

Some of his career highlights include performing at the Guinness Cork Jazz Festival (Ireland), North Sea Jazz Festival in the Hague (Netherlands), the Montreal Jazz Festival (Canada), the Soccer World Cup (Germany), Rugby World Cup (France), Nelson Mandela’s 46664 Concert at Ellis Park (Johannesburg), for the Prince & Princess at the Monaco Opera House (Monaco), Victoria Jazz Club in Oslo (Norway), Wigan International Jazz Festival (England), the Edinburgh International Jazz & Blues Festival (Scotland), on Bastille Day in Bastille, Paris (France) and for President Zuma’s Inauguration at the Union Buildings in Pretoria (South Africa).

13th Sept 2018 – Zeke le Grange

The 41 is pleased to bring you the Zeke le Grange Trio featuring Zeke le Grange on saxophone, Blake Hellaby on keys and Kingsley Buitendag on electric bass. The band will perform a mix of jazz Standards, South African jazz, original compositions and light pop. Entrance is free, the food and service is great and so are the views! There is no reason not to make this your Thursday night hang.

Zeke le Grange is a permanent member of South African legend, Alvin Dyers’ Quartet and performs with the Mike Campbell Big Band, Ian Smith Big Band and the Delft Big Band to name a few. Zeke’s soulful approach, stellar articulation and swinging straight-ahead bop lines make him one of the top saxophonists in South Africa.

20th Sept 2018 – Amy Campbell Trio

Amy Campbell Trio featuring Amy Campbell on vocals and keys, Dan Shout on saxophone and Wesley Rustin on double bass. The band will perform a mix of jazz Standards, Latin jazz and light pop. Entrance is free, the food and service is great and so are the views! There is no reason not to make this your Thursday night hang.

Amy Campbell is one of the leading jazz vocalists in Cape Town. She graduated first in her class from The South African College of Music with a BMus in Jazz Performance. In her own right as a singer and pianist, she has performed internationally at The Stockholm Jazz Festival, Sweden, The Arcevia Jazz Festival, Italy and Jazz At VJ’s, Australia. She and her a cappella group AnecNote are the reigning champions of South Africa’s Got Talent, having won the competition in 2017. She is a musical theatre actress as well and has been involved with productions for Cape Town Opera, Mixing Bowl Productions and will be featured in an upcoming production with the Fugard Theater. She is a vocal coach and lecturer at The South African College Of Music and an avid performer in and around South Africa.

27th Sept 2018 – Marc de Kock Trio

The last edition of The 41 Spring Series brings you the Marc de Kock Trio featuring Marc de Kock on saxophone, Blake Hellaby on keys and Kingsley Buitendag on electric bass. The band will perform a mix of jazz Standards, South African jazz, original compositions and light pop. Entrance is free, the food and service is great and so are the views! There is no reason not to make this your Thursday night hang.

Top South African saxophonist, Marc de Kock graduated from the UCT College of Music in 2000 with an Honours degree in Jazz Performance. At age 19 he was chosen to tour with the Standard Bank National Youth Jazz Band to represent South Africa in New York.

Over the years, Marc has performed with many well-known artists and bands, and has featured in theatre productions such as Cats, Grease and numerous Barnyard Theatre shows. His performances have taken him around the world to places like Thailand, Mauritius and Europe. He is currently a member In With a Shout, the Mike Campbell Big Band and Woodshed.
