James Cross is a musician/songwriter that has a unique perspective on creating music. He describes his music as Country/Pop/Rock.
He was born in Durban, moved around South Africa and finally settled in Melkbosstrand on the West Coast at age 8. At age fifteen his father gave him the option to either pursue sport or music and he chose music. He got his first guitar for Christmas that year and spent day in and day out playing. He says “I found a joy for creating music I’ve never experienced before and learned to play the guitar in less than a month. I started playing on stage at age 16 with my fellow musician friends and started my first band that same year. Nothing brings me more joy in this world than creating music. There is no better and more fulfilling feeling in the world.”
A relative new comer to the Cape Town music scene, he has a fresh sound that’s authentic, pure and real. With a fresh new sound, he believes in creating a pure acoustic sound from scratch. James uses no looping pedals or backing tracks. His sound is created on the spot.
His sound is a unique modern acoustic sound, which he describes as “acoustic music with folk and pop influences.”
