Are you a Champagne fan? Have you ever experienced Vintage Champagne? Did you know that Hennessy cognac is also made from grapes, specifically the Ugni Blanc varietal, and was first distilled 254 years ago?

If you want to know more, join us on Saturday 12 October for an exceptional Champagne and Cognac food pairing at The 41 in Camps Bay. Executive Chef Wesley Peters with French Owner Gilles Blanc, Brand Ambassador for Moet & Chandon and Brand Ambassador for Hennessy have partnered to deliver you an unforgettable 4-course pairing experience.

Champagne is the ultimate drink of celebration but is also a fantastic opportunity to enrich gastronomic experiences. According to Executive Chef Wesley Peters, “the main thing to look into any wine for food pairing is its level of acidity”. The high levels of acidity in a champagne brings out the freshness in the wine which is then balanced by the body, structure and fruitiness levels.

To make the event even more extraordinary, you will be tasting 2 exceptional Moët & Chandon Vintages (2008 & 2009). To be noted that this release is unique as the 2009 vintage was released before the 2008 vintage.

Sweet and sour champagne poached prawn, cayenne pineapple mango salsa, passion fruit
Moët & Chandon Brut

Kudu Carpaccio, imperial dressed rocket, brûlé d’oranges
2008 Imperial

Five-spiced sesame crusted duck breast, vanilla sweet potato and parsnip purée, dark chocolate oil, honey almond shatter
2009 Imperial

Moist chocolate and espresso brownie, XO sabayon, dusted ice-cream
Hennessy VSOP

This delicious 4-course tasting menu will be served in the elegant Dining Room at The 41, with our glass-panel fireplace to keep you warm and some chilled background music. Paired with 3 glasses of Moët & Chandon Champagne, this whole experience is just R595 per guest.
